Kahlua & Coffee BBQ Sauce

Makes approx 2 cups
From the Pineapple & Coconut blog
 
½ cup strong brewed coffee
2/3 cup ketchup
½ cup + 2 tablespoons Kahlua
3 large shallots, peeled & chopped SUPER fine
3 cloves garlic, peeled & chopped SUPER fine
½ cup light brown sugar
1/3 cup sweet chili sauce
1 tablespoon teriyaki sauce
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
  1. Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan, whisk together
  2. Bring to a boil over med-high heat
  3. Lower heat and simmer for 50 minutes, or until reduced by 1/3. It should be darker & much thicker
  4. Cool in pan, store in a glass jar and keep refrigerated
