Chocolate Chip Snicker Doodle Scones

makes 12
3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup COLD unsalted butter
1 cup buttermilk
5 oz cinnamon chips
6 oz chocolate chips
½ tablespoon ground cinnamon
½ cup sugar
  1. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together
  2. Cut butter into dry ingredients using a fork (or pastry blender), until crumbly w/ only pea-sized chunks left
  3. Make a well in the center, pour in buttermilk and stir until just combined
  4. Fold in cinnamon chip & chocolate chips
  5. Divide dough in half
  6. Pat each half into a 8 inch circle, then cut each into 6 wedges
  7. Combined cinnamon & ½ cup sugar, then GENTLY toss each wedge in the mixture
  8. Bake for 8-12 minutes or until firm and lightly browned.
