Banana Walnut Scones

Adapted from Wholesome Homemaker. Makes 12.
1 ½ cups wheat flour
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cinnamon
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cut into chunks
¼- ½ cup chopped walnuts
1 egg
1 large banana
¼ cup maple syrup
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F
2. Whisk dry ingredients together, cut in the butter until the dough is crumbly with pea sized clumps of butter, stir in the walnuts
3. Whisk egg, banana, and maple syrup together then add it to the dry ingredients, stir until the dough just comes together
4. Turn dough out on to a lightly floured surface, knead 3-4 times or until the dough holds together and nothing crumbles off
5. Divide dough in half, pat each half into a circle, then cut each into 6 wedges
6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned
7. Combine melted butter and maple syrup, then slather over scones
