Apple Bourbon BBQ Sauce

¼ cup diced onion
3 tablespoons bourbon
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon cumin
¾ cup ketchup
½ cup white vinegar
½ cup apple juice
½ cup light brown sugar
6 tablespoons pure maple syrup
2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon honey
+/- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
1. Sauté onions over medium heat
2. Whisk together remaining ingredients except the cornstarch
3. Bring to a full boil over medium-high heat
4. Reduce heat to medium and simmer to reduce by ¼
5. Whisk in cornstarch if the sauce doesn’t reduce to desired thickness
